Here Comes Santa Claus… it’s Christmas Day!

We had a little Christmas morning at our house where Maddie opened her gifts from us and then headed over to Gaga’s for Christmas breakfast and gifts. We all got stockings and Maddie got spoiled. A little later we headed over to Aunt Nancy and Uncle Chuck’s house to have a lovely Christmas lunch where we got to catch up with everyone. We had one sleepy reindeer by the Christmas night!

Maddie at 22 Months

MADELINE AT TWENTY-TWO MONTHS

Maddie is all grown up. She’s so grown up that she calls her Daddy by his first name now. Sometimes she calls him Daddy Rapp too. “Dan” is not loving this and Mommy has trouble keeping a straight face while correcting her.

She’s testing her limits in all different ways and we sometimes call her Bossy Pants. She loves to negotiate and often gets her way. At Thanksgiving she had a whole table of people holding hands, singing “Ring Around the Rosy” over and over to her hearts content. This is a common occurrence at dinners at home, this time she took her show on the road.

Her brain is a little sponge and we have to watch everything we say and every conversation we have in front of her. She remembers details from things that happened weeks ago and will recount stories about little moments over and over. Ask her what Lucas did to her toy lemon, or what happened when Gaga put on the buzzer to the dryer. She’ll tell you ALL ABOUT IT….a couple of times in a row.

While getting in the holiday spirit, Maddie has become interested in the ballerinas from watching the Nutcracker with Gaga. She likes to lift her leg up off the ground and balance against the couch. She makes running jumps (she gets off the ground now) and does lots of twirls. We call them her ballerina moves.

She’s really into The Lion King and The Little Mermaid right now.
During “The Circle of Life” she likes to run around with her arms up in the air like she’s Rafiki holding baby Simba up over the cliff for all the animals to see. It’s really a sight. She asks Mommy to sing her “Part of that World” over and over on car rides. It’s pretty much the only thing she allows me to sing anymore.

Currently thinks her Mommy’s belly contains:
A baby. Kangaroo.
